WATER STANDARD
WATER STANDARD was founded by Andrew Gordon, a Florida-based entrepreneur who in 2000 began to focus on a major challenge of the 21st century: the global water shortage. After a significant period of research, Gordon began designing and patenting the desalination and waste water treatment vessel, with a direct regard to be an environmentally responsible, operationally reliable, alternative to more conventional land-based processes.

With more initial focus on the desalination process, the vessel became known as the Seawater Desalination Vessel™ (SDV™). As an offshore desalination process facility, the SDV™ was developed to minimize the impacts on the marine ecosystem, with the advantage of flexibility, speed to market, and contract optionality while using proven technology that has previously only been land-based for mass production.

The technologies and processes WATER STANDARD has developed are receiving global attention:
  • In an October 8, 2007 report, Goldman Sachs & Co. reported, "We consider WATER STANDARD to be one of the most exciting stories in the global water sector."
  • "With a technology such as the [SDV™], desalination soon may leave the realm of wishful thinking and become one of the world's primary means to augment clean, environmentally responsible, reliable global water supplies," according to an article in the Journal of the American Water Works Association.
  • Referring to Australia, Global Water Intelligence reported, "A country where the population is concentrated around the coastline is ideally suited to the benefits offered by WATER STANDARD's Seawater Desalination Vessel™."
  • Judges in the 2007 Global Water Awards called the SDV™ an "important new direction in the evolution of the desalination industry."
WATER STANDARD's advantages in commercial vessel-based desalination are supported by its numerous issued patents and pending patent applications. In 2002, the company filed for IP protection of its various technologies. The patents and patent applications are filed throughout the world including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

In November 2006, Amanda Brock agreed to join WATER STANDARD to develop and execute a comprehensive global business plan. She has spent her career building and managing companies, including a decade of experience in the development and growth of the water business throughout the Americas.

As CEO of WATER STANDARD, she has been meeting with international financial and water treatment industry leaders; attending, speaking, and presenting at conferences throughout the world; overseeing design operations and the purchase of the first vessel; and raising significant capital that further proves the viability of WATER STANDARD and its processes.
